Hannover, March, 10th – 14th 2014. At the booth of the Fraunhofer Instiute for Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation some innovative products and services were presented. The SpectralFinder – a software for the detection of any kind of materials – runned with a UHD 285 hyperspectral camera by Cubert.
We asked the SpectralFinder project-team for some statements and impressions from the trade fair:
How was the CeBit for the IOSB?
The resonance on the CeBIT was positive without exception. There were many visitors who had not made experience with hyperspectral data before. For many interested parties the solution of a specific problem is in the foreground. In the conversation application fields in which the Cubert technique would make sense together with our software could be defined. In many cases a final conclusion cannot be cleared without further examinations. Furthermore pupils and students have had a great enthusiasm for our exhibit. They had obviously fun with classifying her clothes. That shows us that our software is understandable in seconds and makes an analysis possible for also unpracticed evaluators.
Is there a good feedback from the CeBit visitors?
For many interested parties the solution of a specific problem is in the foreground. We were asked about applications which, till now, were not inthefocus for us. In future studies have to show whether the Cubert system together with our software represent an economical solution.
About the SpectralFinder: How is the state of the development and which objectives are achieved or are going to be achieved?
We steadily work on an improvement of thesoftware. This concerns both the performance and the function range. Because ofthe flexible ranges of application, however, there also are requirements on the data analysis/data preparation which cannot be immediately solved. But as a result for us a variety of interesting research capabilities come up. Therefore we make sure that our software and the data products calculatedwith thathave the bestquality.
Are you satisfied with the Cubert Hyperspectral Camera?
We are very satisfied with the Cubert UHD-285 camera generally. Depending on the requirements the choice of the used sensor system decides between success and failure. We seethe strengths of your system mainly in the observation of mobile objects and in the flexible ranges of applications. The frequently used Push-Broom sensors are unsuitable for UAVs or vehicles, especially if they are not stabilized.
